Dodging Through the Decades honors the Clubs’ 50th anniversary by raising over $60,000 to fund innovative youth programs, initiatives, and more!

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Stoneham & Wakefield is proud to celebrate another successful Dodging for Dollars fundraising tournament, held April 23 through May 5th. Bringing together teams from the surrounding communities, the 6th annual event themed “Dodging Through the Decades” paid homage to the organization’s 50th anniversary and decades-long commitment to providing a safe and supportive community for youth and families. To date, the tournament exceeded the original goal and raised over $60,000 to help the Clubs’ continued development of innovative programs and initiatives.

“This year’s Dodging for Dollars was truly an amazing event, and we are so grateful for all who donated their time and came to dodge it out for a good cause,” says Anthony Guardia, tournament Commissioner and Chief Development Officer of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Stoneham & Wakefield. “Thanks to all the teams and competitors, we were able to beat our fundraising goal, which empowers us to continue building on the foundation that helps so many young people build better futures.” Funds raised will be used for enhanced out-of-school activities, additional Here & Now mental health assistance, and more.

From television personalities to luxury transportation providers and leaders in the law, this year’s tournament featured some of the fiercest teams from the area. “Our game got quite competitive,” says Mark Kini, owner of Boston Chauffeur and top tournament fundraiser. “But, it was a lot of fun for a great cause.” Kini’s crew was one of many teams that showed up ready to raise money and claim victory – all in dedication to helping the Clubs’ in its mission. “I’m a life-long Wakefield resident and growing up there was no Boys & Girls Club,” adds Kini. “The structure and programs the Clubs offer are transformational, and kids deserve to have access to that.”
